In a Wavegarden Cove, waves are created in four different zones to offer a personalized surfing experience adapted to the level of each person. Each zone has waves of different height, shape and speed, offering a fun and challenging experience for all surfers.
The standard Wavegarden Cove has two Reef zones and two Bays. The Bays use the reform waves from the advanced surf zone, the Reefs, and therefore do not consume any additional energy.
Bays
For Beginners
There are two Bay zones, each divided into three different areas. The Bay waves are soft and slow moving to allow surfers to gain experience and learn to stand up. With fully controlled conditions, it is the safest place to learn to surf. The waves are very consistent – coming through every 8 seconds – which creates a significantly fast learning curve. The capacity of this area is up to 50 surfers, 25 in each Bay.
Reef
For Expert and Intermediate Level Surfers
The Reefs have powerful left and right hand waves, available in a variety of types (turns, tubes and aerials) that gradually increase in strength and size (up to 2 meters). Sessions can be scheduled that include combinations of different wave types and varying levels of difficulty. Depending on the wave type, the surfer capacity is approximately 30-40 surfers per hour, half on each side of the central pier.
One of the main advantages of the Wavegarden Cove technology is that energy is continuously injected into the wave as it advances through the Reefs. This ensures that the waves maintain a constant height and power for as long as possible. It also permits long waves of 30 seconds if they are caught in the Reefs.
With the push of a button on the control system of a Wavegarden Cove, it is possible to adjust the size, shape, power and frequency of the waves, matching them to the requirements of the surfers in the water. In effect, it is possible to instantly go from a small wave for beginners to a powerful 2-meter barrel.
The control system, specifically designed by Wavegarden for its surf lagoons, integrates the latest industry 4.0 developments. Updates and new functions to the system can be applied remotely without interrupting the service of facilities.
The variety of waves and the generation process are dictated by algorithms developed by our engineers that are integrated into the control system.
The Interface (IPM) works via intuitive operator panels and an application that integrates all machine controls, wave scheduling, troubleshooting, machine health monitoring and self-diagnostics, in addition to peripheral system functions, such as water treatment and lighting. Furthermore, for any need that may arise, the control system can be easily controlled by the Wavegarden team from anywhere in the world.
