Top pro surfers test our new Air & Barrel Waves

A handful of top aerial surfers recently tested our new air and barrel waves at Wave Park (South Korea), URBNSURF Melbourne (Australia), Alaïa Bay (Switzerland), and Praia da Grama (Brazil). The line-up of test pilots had some big names including:

Yago Dora (Brazil)

Yago showcases his electrifying aerial game on our new air waves at Praia da Grama. Yago is currently #19 on the WSL rankings however, judging by his current form, we expect him to climb a lot higher in 2023, especially if he gets to train on our waves on a regular basis.

Luke Swanson (Hawaii)

The young Hawaiian was one of the first surfers in the world to test out our new air waves. His feedback was instrumental in perfecting the run-in, air section and landing.

Reef Heazlewood (Australia)

Reef is definitely one of the best air surfers in the world. His work ethic and repertoire of tricks is mind blowing – what a pleasure it has been to see him testing our new waves.

Victor Bernardo (Brazil)

Leo Fioravanti (Italy)

Italian pro surfer Leo Fioravanti flares up on our new air waves at Alaia Bay, Switzerland. “Give me another session and I am sure I will be able to pull off a backflip,” explained Leo. Leo has a big year ahead of him in 2023 now that he is back on the WSL world tour, and no doubt will be back at Alaia Bay real soon to fine-tune his air repertoire. Who knows, he may even land that back he was talking about.

and Dion Agius (Australia). During the test sessions, we were able to perfect 4 new airs waves and several barrel waves. The new air waves are ideal for experienced surfers, however there’s even a softer one with less pop (force) for training.

As expected, all the pros went crazy, putting their full repertoire of tricks on display, including some impressive straight airs, full rotations, off axis spins, backflips, and, of course, every grab you can imagine (slob, indy, stalefish, lean, etc..).
The creation of these new waves is possible due to our new and vastly superior software program, which offers a level of flexibility and a range of possibilities previously impossible. The software at all Wavegarden facilities is being updated to incorporate these additional waves and hopefully they will be available to the public soon.

We are currently preparing a short documentary – “The making of Wavegarden´s new waves” – that we will share with you very soon.
