World champion skateboarder and Olympic medalist Sky Brown recently ventured to Garopaba, Brazil, to surf at one of our newest Wavegarden Cove facilities, Surfland Brasil, which also boasts a world-class skate park designed by legendary skater Pedro Barros. As she soon discovered, the combination of the Wavegarden surfing lagoon and skate park offers an unparalleled experience for guests seeking to practice both of these board sports in a single day.
Already a standout athlete at just 15 years old, Brown recently harbored hopes of making history by competing in both surfing and skating at the Olympics, but fell short this time. Nevertheless, her trip to Surfland proved to uplift her spirits and be the perfect fit for an athlete who loves both sports.
“The thing I really love about this place is the good vibes,” said Brown. “The people, the food, the scenery – it’s all just so amazing. This is just the most perfect place.”
While Brown will settle for competing solely in the Olympic skateboarding division, this sojourn provided a welcome break to simply surf, skate, and soak up the positive energy in the heart of Brazil’s surfing paradise, finding inspiration, camaraderie, and freedom all in one place.
