«We are absolutely thrilled to finally bring our cutting-edge wave technology to Virginia Beach. This is just the first of many Wavegarden Cove projects coming the USA.”
Fernando Odriozola, Chief Commercial Officer of Wavegarden.
The City of Virginia Beach and our partner Venture Realty Group have announced the development of a mixed-use project, Atlantic Park, on the site of the former Virginia Beach Dome. The development is backed by star entertainer Pharrell Williams and will feature a 2.67-acre Wavegarden Cove surf park that generates waves for beginner and experienced surfers ranging between 1-6ft (0.3-1.8m). The Atlantic Park venue will also include new-to-market restaurants, experiential retail, residential and office space, as well as state-of-the-art indoor/outdoor entertainment facilities.
Atlantic Park is a public-private partnership between the City of Virginia Beach, Venture Realty Group, Pharrell Williams, W.M. Jordan Company, Bishard Development, and Priority Title/H20 Investments. The involvement of Pharrell Williams as a development principal will assist the project to gain global visibility, drive economic growth and cement Virginia Beach as a year-round destination with a flourishing culture.
Phase 1 of construction has already begun, with an expected opening date in summer 2025. The first stage will include a Wavegarden surf park, a beach with cabanas to create an authentic ´beach club´ environment, as well as restaurants, shops, corporate office space and facilities, 70,000sq.ft of entertainment areas, and more than 300 multi-family homes.
Atlantic Park is a transformative development that will change the heart of the Virginia Beach Oceanfront forever. With the addition of year-round surfing, entertainment, and community gatherings, Atlantic Park will be a must-visit destination for locals and visitors alike.
“Our goal has always been to provide surfers around the world with the most authentic and best waves possible. Our team has worked tirelessly to perfect our technology and we can’t wait for surfers of all skill levels to experience it firsthand in Virginia Beach,» said Fernando Odriozola, Wavegarden´s CCO.
Although, Wavegarden has 6 facilities in operation, more than 70 projects currently in development worldwide, and 7 projects under construction, Atlantic Park is the just first of many projects coming to the USA. Other projects in the pipeline include Myrtle Beach (Sth Carolina), Coachella (California), Fort Pierce (Florida) and Houston (Texas).
