So when we heard that he was in the Basque Country and keen for a session at Wavegarden, we didn&#8217;t hesitate to invite him to our demo center hidden away in the Basque mountainside. Born and bred in Western Australia\u2019s heavy pits &#8211; and with a world tour qualification in sight &#8211; we were interested to see what he thought of our diverse spectrum of high performance waves, which include a wide range of turn waves and a handful of steep barrels.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/wavegarden.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Wavegarden_2-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2475\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wavegarden.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Wavegarden_2-1024x682.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/wavegarden.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Wavegarden_2-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/wavegarden.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Wavegarden_2-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/wavegarden.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Wavegarden_2-800x533.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p> Travelling throughout Europe with his partner Julia Muniz, Jack found himself with some downtime in between WQS events and was eager to hone his small wave repertoire in preparation for his next bout. \u201cMy first impression is really positive\u201d, Jack explained at the end of the day, visibly surfed-out after slaying literally hundreds of waves. \u201cYou don&#8217;t get sick of it, you just get physically tired.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/wavegarden.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/MG_9636-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2453\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wavegarden.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/MG_9636-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/wavegarden.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/MG_9636-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/wavegarden.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/MG_9636-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/wavegarden.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/MG_9636-800x533.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p> This was Jack\u2019s first time at a venue with man-made waves and he was sold on the possibilities for personal improvement. \u201cAs a training tool, to get better and perfect your technique, it&#8217;s leaps and bounds ahead. The turn waves are crazy for linking proper\u00a0manoeuvers\u00a0and the barrel waves reminded me of small Teahupo\u2019o. They were just draining from the take-off, where you just point your board to the beach and hang on. She isn&#8217;t shy to admit that she is not capable\u00a0of accompanying\u00a0Jack every time he goes for a free-surf in the ocean, especially when the waves get too heavy. \u201cToday I had so much fun and felt I was really improving,&#8220;\u00a0explained\u00a0Julia. &#8222;They were making a\u00a0barrel for Jack, like a\u00a0slab wave, and right after a\u00a0manoeuver wave for me.
